How old does my child have to be to register?
Children must be five years old to be eligible to play.

How do I sign my child up to play soccer?
Registration can be done in person, by mail or online.

Can I register my 5year old daughter on-line if she never played before?
Yes. Click on register online and follow the directions for new players

Where can I buy a Soccer shirt?
Shirts are sold at the field for the first 3 weeks of the season

Are LYS soccer shirts required?
Yes.

What other equipment is required?
Shin Pads are required. Cleats are not mandatory but if worn, must be soccer cleats.

My child plays football and baseball. Can he use the same cleats for Soccer too.
No. Only Soccer Cleats are allowed to be worn.

I have shin pads and cleats that no longer fit my child. Can I donate them to the league?
Yes. LYS welcomes donations of used soccer equipment at the club house

When are Spring & Fall Intramural Games Played ?
Games are played Sundays between 12:00 and 3:00

How long is the season?
The season normally runs 8 weeks (Weather Permitting)

When does the season start?
The spring session usually starts in April
The Fall Season usually starts in September
The Winter Season usually starst the weekend after New Years
Check out the website prior to the season for exact dates.

How will I know which team my child is Playing on?
You will be contacted by your child’s coach the week prior to the season.

How can I volunteer?
The soccer application has a volunteer section that you can fill out when registering your child.

How do I know if a game is rained out?
Check the website or call the LYS Hotline at 781.599.8690 the day of the game
The coach will also call each of his/her players

How many practices does a team have?
There are no practices for the U-6 division. They just play on Sunday.
Normally all the other intramural divisions hold 1 practice during the week.

Can I request a specific coach?
On the soccer application there is a special request section where you can specify any special requests.
LYS cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated but we will do our best

I registered my child but for some reason cannot participate, can I get a refund?
You may get a refund if you withdraw prior to the first game.

Do you have games on Mother's Day?
Yes.

Do you have games on Father's Day?
Yes.

Where are the games played?
Hood Park on Holyoke Street (across from the new Classical)

Do you have games on Memorial Day/Columbus Day weekends?
No, many towns host soccer tournaments so intramural and travel games are suspended so that families may attend.

What is travel soccer?
When a player reaches the U-10 level they can try out for the more competitive travel division.
The season is 8 games, with 4 home games and 4 away games. Home games are at Hood Park and away games are in other towns mostly on the North Shore.


Can my child play intramural and travel?
Yes, if you choose so, your child could play both. The intramural fee is waived for players on travel teams. All LYS intramural games are played on Sundays.
All U10 - U14 travel games are played on Saturdays.

Can my child play with tape or band aids covering earrings?
No. No jewelry may be worn at games or practices.
If you are planning on new piercings, please have them done at least 30 days prior to the season or wait until after the season ends.
(The only exception is a medic alert bracelet, which may be covered with tape.)
